CA technology at CASS smart warehouses helps fruits and vegetables maintain freshness during storage, while inhibiting the growth of microorganisms that cause spoilage and cross-contamination between batches.
Produce stored in this environment can extend shelf life by 2-4 times compared to traditional cold storage. Specifically, apples can be preserved for up to 12 months using CA technology. This advanced preservation method meets stringent standards required by premium markets for fresh and clean agricultural products.
Preservation using CA technology reduces weight loss due to moisture loss to only 1-2% over about 10 days, compared to 8-10% under conventional cold storage. Damage rates decrease from 15-30% to below 5%, and quality deterioration (resulting in discounted sales) reduces from 30-40% to 2-10%.
To date, many types of fruits and vegetables, such as beets, sweet potatoes, guavas, coconuts, pomelos, persimmons, limes, dragon fruit, watermelon, and passion fruit, have been entrusted by businesses for storage at CASS facilities to serve domestic consumption and exports.
