CASS: BREAKTHROUGH TECHNOLOGY AND DEDICATION HAVE ENABLED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF TONS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES TO BE EXPORTED.

Just under a year since its inception, CASS’s cold storage system for preserving fresh fruits and vegetables has proven remarkably effective. This technology addresses the inherent challenges of preserving perishable goods, which are notoriously difficult to store.

What technology enables CASS to achieve these results?

Export partners who have utilized CASS’s services have acknowledged its superior preservation quality, accurate inventory reporting, timely order processing, and efficient import-export operations facilitated by automated robotics and a dedicated, dynamic workforce. These factors contribute to growing customer trust and enhanced business operations at CASS.

According to Ms. Quach Thi Le Chan, Director of CASS, Vietnam’s fresh produce sector faces challenges categorized into three main issues: high loss rates, inefficient inventory management leading to weak market connections, and insufficient capacity to respond to market fluctuations. Addressing these challenges required the adoption of advanced global preservation technologies and warehouse management systems.

CASS pioneered the application of Controlled Atmosphere (CA) technology in Vietnam, a method widely used in the US, UK, Netherlands, and other countries. This technology is integrated into the design of CASS’s storage facilities located in Hoa Binh Industrial Zone, Thanh Thua District, with a capacity of 4,000 pallets, suitable for various types of fruits and vegetables. This CA warehouse is the first of its kind in Vietnam, developed through Vietnamese innovation and research.

Benefits provided by this project include significant reduction in product loss due to controlled respiration and moisture supply, extended shelf life (2-4 times longer than conventional methods), insect eradication, and prevention of cross-contamination without chemical use. Furthermore, CASS enhances inventory management capabilities, strengthens customer and supplier relationships through automated robotic handling, and ensures error-free operations.

CASS can effectively store all types of fruits and vegetables, including those traditionally challenging to preserve.

Currently, CASS has the capacity to handle approximately 200 containers per month of various types of cargo. To further enhance efficiency, in Phase II, CASS plans to complete several initiatives aimed at doubling or tripling the speed of import and export operations. They also aim to expand their service offerings to include post-harvest processing and strengthen connections with logistics partners. These efforts are intended to facilitate more convenient and effective business operations for customers, aligning with CASS’s vision to elevate Vietnam’s agricultural products.

Ms. Quach Thi Le Chan also emphasized the crucial role of media and communication channels in determining the success of the project. She expressed gratitude to Long An Newspaper for being the first to support the project through media coverage. Media outlets play a pivotal role in raising awareness of CASS’s services among potential customers.
